Chi Alpha Omega was founded at East Carolina University in the Spring of 1987. It was originally
called "Alpha Omega", but the name was changed because there was already a dental Fraternity with the same name.
The founding brothers of XAO are Kurt Yanchenko, Wayne Parris, and Lee Morgan.
The Original Board of Directors consisted of: Kurt Yanchenko, Wayne Parris and Chris Christian.
The Beta Chapter was founded at N.C. State University in the spring of 1988.
The Fraternity colors were adopted because they were the only colors that the store had left to order.
In 1994 the Gamma Chapter was founded at UNC Chapel Hill.
In 2001 the Delta Chapter was founded at Appalachian State University.
In fall 2003 the Epsilon Chapter was founded in UNC Greensboro.
In fall 2005 the Zeta Chapter
was founded at Lander University in Greenwood, SC.
In spring 2006 the Eta Chapter was founded at Campbell University.
